How Much Storage Space Do I Get For My Email Box?
With every email account we offer upto 5GB of hosted storage.
This is less than the disk-space that we provide to store your website files; however, there is one important difference between the way email is saved versus the files for your website.
When you pull up a website, the only file that loads is the one with that name, similar to the regular directory structure on your computer where your documents are saved withing folders, catagorized the way you want them.
With exchange email this works slightly differently. Although the storage is file based, these files are catagorized and organized in a database with an active connection between outlook on your computer and the exchange mail database. When this database grows too large, usually in excess of 4-5GB you will notice a degridation in the performance of your email.
This does not mean that you have to start deleting email at 5GB. At this level, you are probrably saving somewhere in the region of 120,000 email messages and we would suggest that you move some of the older messages into a local (saved on your computer) folder within Outlook.
The access to your email will work just the same, and you maintain all of the same search functionliaty within Outlook 2007 quick search, or Google Desktop, but this will speed up the regular operation of Outlook, and free up some of your system resources making your computer run faster.
